Mongeese are very smart fighters -- with snakes they grab them by the neck too close for the snake to bite but with large animals they go for the achilles tendons which will imobilise the animal. jackal is wise not to mess with them because they would win.

Actually, they both belong to the 'Mongoose' family (Herpestidae), so a Meerkat is a Mongoose but a Mongoose is not necessarily a Meerkat.

@PaulHG2007 These are not mongoose! These animals are named MEERKATS and are a lot different from the mongoose.

"Mongoose" is the race... like "pittbull"
mongooses are recognised on thier stripes on the back. and like "The whiskers" known from tv they are meerkats. the mongoose is a born killer and can take down any thin skinned animal thats equal to or below 3 times its weight. and yes. they are sort of cool :)
