Lilly Galili:
How a myth is created?
Is the collective memory naturally the sum of all the private memories, or is it directed? I assume there is a territorial sequence which leads from the private memory, through the collective memory, towards the creation of the collective myth.

I thought that then, in the old days, there was a myth, or a faith. Myth has already a negative connotation of total righteousness attached to it.

I was amazed at some pieces of evidence in the book which expressed total objection already then, in real-time, not in retrospect. Nowadays we would call it post-Zionism, or even anti-Zionism.
It surprised me a lot.
I didn't know it existed.
I would be glad to speak about this tension:
How a collective memory is created? What formulates it? How it confronts other influences? What are its transformations?

  • Prof. Amya Lieblich:

What an explanation can one provide for the fact that Corinna succeeded in these talks to reach that layer that I call 'anti-myth' – the personal memory as opposed to the collective one?

It seems to me there were four factors that together brought about this achievement:

One, is probably your presence, Corinna, and your direct connection with the people you went to see, and in the few lines you describe these situations.

    It was enough for me.
