"What A Difference A Day Makes (Made)" was originally written in Spanish by María Méndez Grever (María Grever), a Mexican composer, in 1934. At that time the song was known as "Cuando Vuelva A Tu Lado", English lyrics were written for it and the Dorsey Brothers subsequently had the first popular recording of it in 1934. Dinah's version of it was recorded in early 1959 with Belford Hendricks arranging and conducting, and the song was Dinah's first time on pop charts peaking at #8 during June of that year. The song won her a Grammy and has been enshrined in the Grammy Hall Of Fame.

Song was famously played for Dodger pinch hitter Cookie Lavagetto in the 1947 World Series. Cookie broke Yankee hurler Floyd Bevens no hitter in bottom of 9th driving in the winning run. Following day same situation and Cookie struck out. Brooklyn organist Doris (Goodwin ??)then played this song..
