this is great. btw, thanks for reposting with the ending. Wanted to say there aren't too many places where you can see the great claude williamson play piano. He came up to SF a few years ago and united with his bass player , don prell, and they jammed at the bay view boat club.

Way back in Decatur Illinois high school, when she was Shirley Luster, everyone knew she would be important. In her high school senior yearbook photo she looks pretty much the same as here. She only completed high school to please her mother; she was ready way before that to bust out of the small town and make her mark in the world, whatever it took (and it took a lot). WIth her Stan Kenton realized he'd found gold. Anita O'Day, Chris Connor and June were mutual admirers, never competitors.

She is glorious. Notice her perfect legato. She hardly closes her mouth from sound to sound, no break. Great tone production and not hard took at either:) Man is she a doll or what. Talk about a songbird. What a mouth,, lips as she sings. Beautiful. Any newbies here, listen to Chris Connor too. Totally off the chart. Voice of darkest velvet. A torch singer, non pareil. Fire hazard this girl. Btw, Miss Connor passed away last week after a lifetime of great singing. I adore them both.
