Tumbler Ridge, BC Fire May 31, 2009

On May 31st, 2009 an explosion was heard and felt throughout the entire town of Tumbler Ridge, BC. At approximately 2:35 am a house in upper bench of the town literally exploded. The house itself was completely destroyed. The blast sent debris flying hundreds of feet in every direction and damaged beyond repair at least a few if not more of the homes immediately surrounding it.

i live just down the road from where this happened it was scary my parents went down the street to help and i was left at home from 3:00 a.m til`about 7:30 a.m iwas so freaked out all i did was sit on the couch al hope everyone was ok

i understand that it was a suicide and from the photos i saw they matched the Edmonton house explosion so i wonder if it was a gas explosion in edmonton

Irene passed away a few months after this happened. She died of cancer in Edmonton,

i am shocked i just found this out today.. i know dave and irene they where nice people. i remeber when they sold there house east of duffield to move there .i can`t belive dave would do that to himself. or not think of others around him.. does anyone know where irene is ?i lost contact with them a few years ago.

but im so thankfull that my grandparents are still alive from this. but it is all cleared out now, and the red truck u see a bit of with the camper on it is my grandpas new truck that got wrecked to, but its fixed now, but im glad everyone is safe, but sad to see them go threw this.

2 houses down from where my grandma lives, and right behind where i used to live, about 27 houses were damaged cause he commited suicide because his wife was dieing of cancer. i went there a couple months after the explosin and it was just a big mess, im lucky i dont live there anymore.

My grand parents just lived about a 3 min walk from that house. They were one of the luckier ones for house damage. Was mostly just 2 or 3 door jams that broke. Somehow an inside to the back porch had it's door jam busted. That one kinda baffles me.

It was up at the dead end just off of quality cresent, guy was an elderly man and from the looks of it so far commited suicide, around 30 houses are fucked up including mine... Guy wasn't found in good shape either, part of his hand was apparently found from what kalvin was told in kals backyard... So just imagine how bad it was... Stuff from the blast was even found down at the ball diamonds...
