LOMBARD RAC RALLY - Harrogate-Telford

LOMBARD RAC RALLY (A500) - Not exactly Gran Turismo 5 but the best that 1988 and the Amiga 500 had to offer. Used the classic 'different shade blocks for road to create illusion of speed' technique. Other points of interest include:
-- The driver with no face
-- The co-drivers seat with no back
-- The course map which bears absolutely no resemblance to the actual track
-- Police cars in the middle of the course (!?)

Oddly enough this was one of the very first games I EVER played on the Amiga. So now you know.

I don't think they are police cars, I think they are 205 rally cars but I could be wrong...

I remember how pressing F1 made the windscreen wipers come on. I used to wait until the whole screen was full of snow, every last bit, then put them on :) I'm sure it was this game, if not it was another version of it.

Oh yeah and the race countdown which made the speakers get squelchy: "VUMPH, two, one, go"

Yeah it's like the navigator's leaning all the way back in his seat like a pimp or something... God it just felt so SLOW, and that engine noise - Ford Cosworth? More like Ford Transit (although if this was slow, when you upgraded to the more powerful engine, it became totally uncontrollable)... Also hitting a bush, coming to a pathetic halt and just thinking, come on, come on, get back in GEAR - JESUS...

Police??? I finished the whole game and I didn't see any cops on this game dude. You'll encounter another rally car along the way but no cops for sure. Maybe you confused it with Test Drive?

I remember this game and it was not very funny to play. The police cars ruined the hole idea of a serious "rally simulator". Also the there is only 4 gears and the car is slow as hell.

It was a good game then but look how tecnhology has moved on with the likes of WRC and GT etc.

Still have my old Amiga in the loft, might be tempted to play on it again sometime.
