On November 10th 2006, a peaceful protest was held in memory of the executed anti-Shell activist Ken Saro Wiwa. Protesters stood on the road leading to the site of the controversial proposed Shell refinery in Erris, County Mayo, Ireland. At no time was the protest anything other than peaceful, and the police on duty were never in any danger. However, to clear the road for the Shell convoy, the Gardaí, led by Supt. Joe Gannon and Sgt. Conor O'Reilly, used extreme force to beat the protesters out of the way.

  • @LookGardaCorruption Oh from anarchists like you?

  • Ah well, So much for life on Earth.

  • The day of respect for the guarda is gone .Finnaly people are losing that false notion of upstanding members of society. The garda today get their kicks from bulling the weak and piss themseles at hardened crimanals who are free to prey on the decient citizens of Eire. They need to be reminded WE ARE THE BOSS. We need changes.

  • got to love how this costed the goverment 44 million..well done to the protesters you really got your point across NOT

  • Bastards each and everyone of them.

  • @daveisfugee this message was better...lol

  • Look what these pigs did at the Dublin student protest. They're fucking cruel pathetic cunts, the lot of them.

  • Stop being so soft. You didn't comply with an instruction to clear the road (which the rest of us pay for), they gave you more warnings than I could count that they'd have to use force to remove you and instead of leaving you all linked arms and resisted their attempts to move you.

And if you call that 'extreme force' then you really are useless. If the NICRA had people like you in it's ranks Catholics would still not be voting.

  • man this is wrong, even the garda know this is wrong !!!!!!!!!!!

  • what are the garda, are they the actual police
