@pghnjpiv You're allowed to hit someone who's passing the puck, but it has to be a legal check. Tyutin had long-since declared how he was going to play it (backhand to his defense partner). While he knew Cooke was there, he didn't know that Cooke was going for a hit when he turned his back (that's what the rule means--when you turn in response to seeing someone going for a hit--not vague knowledge of where a guy is on the ice). Cooke also (obviously) left his feet, so it was an obvious charge.

Maybe there should have been a minor on Carter, but Volchenkov deserved a major at least. Either way.. you aren't the ones getting screwed here MSG commentators. Apparently they didn't realize how dirty that hit was.
