@SMLIPRT ok so what exactly is weak and tasteless? the comparison? americans? filipinos? mexicans? spanish? the only reason the filipinos werent as hispanicized as the latinos was because it was simply too far and for that reason, it didnt see as many colonists. mexico on the other hand was the capital of the colonies and therefore was more hispanicized. there just wasnt enough influence to completely erase the filipino language but doesnt mean they werent treated badly

@acousticLU Trypanosom1 explained it to you clearly the motives behind American interest in Phillippines. Your argument on why Phillippines love American culture and how u compare it to Mexicans is weak and wrong comparison. Mexicans was forced on Spanish language and raped off their culture and religion. I don't think Phillipines faced the same terror like the Mexicans, they speak their own language and not spanish..weak and tasteless.

@SMLIPRT aside for the philippines being an american colony for almost 50 years, its becaue the americans bequeathed their love for entertainmen, sportst and hollywood as well as the english language. its like asking.. why do mexicans speak spanish? why do they love spanish culture? almost like their own mayan and aztec culture is wack and tasteless.

@hjacketm000 Spain sold the Philippines to the United States for 20mil dollars.. this was done through the Treaty of Paris (April 11, 1899). The United States was interested with the Philippines because the strategic location of the country will be very useful to them, putting up a base in the Pacific.
