Cory Doctorow posited that "Little Brother's job is to mess with Big Brother". To do that you need to know what tools Big Brother is using. In the case of biometrics there's a lot of misinformation out there. For example Hollywood shows people being identified by mere pixels or artificially aged yearbook photos.

Dr. Alex Kilpatrick has worked on biometrics for the past couple of years. His experiments show that Hollywood is taking creative liberties when writing their shows. Alex shows us what does work and how you can thwart Big Brother's systems that are monitoring you. Biometrics themselves aren't bad or evil. They are used to prevent any number of crimes, but knowing what's possible and what isn't will lead to a more transparent society.
This was filmed at the Web 2.0 Expo NY (http://web2expo.com) in partnership with Ignite NYC (http://ignitenyc.org) on 9/27/10. Distributed by Tubemogul.

Sure, camera manufacturers are squeezing more and more pixels into consumer-level camera sensors. In the process, they're wrecking the signal-to-noise ratio and degrading image quality. Megapixels are just big number, a bullet point on a meaningless feature list.

There's a reason why low-end to mid-range prosumer/professional cameras have sensors around 12-16 MP, and the higher end models barely brush up against 30 MP, despite having sensors at least 8 times larger than point-and-shoots.

  • in minority report we are looking at "future techonology ideas" as such we dont have that kind of tech yet but it might be able to be created and inplmented.

true pixels are blocky ect, however evory month the max dpi of digital photos goes up. in 10 years maybe we could have a pda head set that records who you interacted with and the times and logs the conversations. so we dont have to remember what they say or listen to them. but can recall what they where talking about lol

  • @OTM19 I am. -.-

  • @JonnyPew O:
