Game : Metroid Prime 2: Echoes
Version : Wii (Trilogy)
Level : Hypermode (Hard)
Boss : Emperor Ing
Difficulty : Hard to Insane
The Emperor Ing is the strongest, most powerful Ing on Dark Aether. It's also the first ever Ing to be born from Dark Aether's creation, mutated by the Phazon energy and the stolen Light of Aether. Little is known about its origin.
The Emperor Ing Fight is one of the most difficult but also one of the longest in the Metroid series. As you progess in the fight, the Emperor Ing will change form and become a horrifying-mutated beast after an overdose of Phazon during its cocoon-like phase. You need lot of energy and ammo in order to beat this monster and you can expect one of the most spectacular boss fights.
The Emperor Ing first looks like a giant Inglet. It attacks with its tentacles, creating a giant Dark Orb that can be avoided with the Boost Ball. It also tries to slam you with its tentacles or simply turns around using its tentacles as powerful scythes. As you progress, more tentacles will appear and it'll generate new attacks such as "teleportacles" that can be avoided with Boost Ball or Dark-Shockwave as it slams all its tentacles on the ground.
In order to damage the Emperor Ing, you must shoot the tentacles and make sure they all retract. Your best weapons will be the Charged Light Beam or even the Seeker Launcher so you can shoot multiple ammos and hit many tentacles. The head will temporarly disappear as all tentacles are retracted and the Eye, its weak point, will be exposed. The Eye is protected by two hemispheres rotating around it. You must shoot in the narrow. But you must be careful because the Emperor will charge... and shoot a powerful laser beam that'll prevent you from shooting! Your best weapons are the Charge Beam, Light Beam and the Super Missile.
When you're done with the Emperor, the head will revert and it'll start mutating. A cocoon-like form is now your target. It's a magnetically-charged shell protected by circular vents that expels a poisonous gas that even the Light Suit can't stand. You've no choice but using the Spider and scale the cocoon-like form. The only way to damage the cocoons is destroying the Ing Tentacles that appear from the 11 vents. They're difficult to destroy as they wipe you viciously and disloge the grip for the Spider Ball. Inglets also appear in liquid-form. Your best weapon is the Power Bomb as you can destroy multiple tentacles and Inglets so you can recover energy and ammos.
As the cocoon explodes, you'll face the Mutated Emperor Ing. It looks more like the Ing Warrior but its heart, now unstable due to Phazon exposure and the Light of Aether, is exposed to Samus. Despite of being easy to damage, the Emperor Ing now possesses the most devastating attacks of all forms! In first part, it uses multiple Light Beam attacks similar to the Ing Warrior, jumps in order to create a powerful Dark-Shockwave or simply slams the ground with its legs as you approach it. It'll also close its mouth in order to protect its heart for a short while.
In order to damage it, you must make sure its heart changes color. While it's orange, use your Super Missile (Power Beam-based attacks) to stun it and change your Beam. Its heart will change color so you must shoot with the opposite-source beam. It can make appear Swarmbats to protect its heart so you won't be able to do much damage but you can recover lot of energy and ammo.
As you hit it with enough shots, the Emperor Ing will be stunned, turning its head around in pain and the heart will become orange again. It'll use new attacks such as ramming after roaring. If you can roll beneath it, it'll roar and will be fully exposed to your weapons. In Light/Dark form, it'll use a Beam-based attack from its horn. Turn around the Emperor Ing so you can dodge the beam and avoid to be burned/frozen. If you're frozen by the Dark Energy, press the Jump Button many times as you can so you can break through.
As you progress, the Emperor Ing will be faster and more difficult to dodge. Once you're done with the powerful monster, Samus will finally use the Energy Transfer Module to recover the very last Light of Aether. Dark Aether is suddenly becoming unstable and must escape the dreadful dimension.
