Navany Koeu Khnyom - Yos Alarong

Enjoy this Khmer classic rock and roll song from Yos Alarong. This Chab Tét production was released in 1970 as the B side of Monorom Records #7707. Notice that this song sounds similar to a number of classics from the great American song writer Henry Mancini. The video features Cambodia school kids learning, messing around, and rocking-out in class.

When traveling to Cambodia, I highly recommend you visit a school in the countryside and bring some supplies such as notebooks and pencils to the kids. It is a very fulfilling way to spend a little bit of time and money.

Jeff, I've been looking for this song for a long time since I

first heard its clip in Aquarius record org website which carries a lot of classic Khmer music from label such as Khmer Rock. I smile every time I listen to this song...it's kind of humorous. Thank you for uploading it.

I actually have two version of this song, this one from the Monorom Record, and another lower quality recording that is 6.30 long - and epic length for a Khmer oldie. I'm not sure what the story is for that longer version.

The long version is probably a live recording of the song. I wish I was old enough to see him live - I heard that Yos Olarang was quite an entertainer. In my humble opinion, he's the Cambodian version of Jimmy Hendrix and Jim Morrison!!! Many thanks.

jeff, i don't want to listen to a low quality music for that long of a duration, this one is great, considering it has better quality. short but sweet. 6.30 is too long to bare if the quality isn't so good. :)
