"Bonjour Vietnam" was written by one of my favorite French male songwriters/singers, Marc Lavoine. My all-time favorite song from Marc Lavoine is "Toi Mon Amour." If you're interested, follow the link below to listen to his unique voice with "Toi Mon Amour":

"Bonjour Vietnam" has touched my heart and soul in a very special way. From the very first time I heard it by the sweet Vietnamese-Belgian artist Phạm Quỳnh Anh. Up to this day, the song still has the same affects on me. There are quite a few beautiful versions of Quỳnh Anh performing this song that you can find on YouTube. Thus, I decided to feature a male voice version, so here's the version by a new artist, Trần Thái Hoà. Note: Although with the same name, the artist who performed this song and the artist who performed "If You Go Away" (my upload) are not the same person.

Featuring in this clip are the beautiful images of Vietnam. One day, I'll go there to say hello to my birth country, Vietnam! I'll travel from North to South. I'll visit all the temples, churches, famous landmarks with mountains, rivers, and all. I'll adorn myself with the Vietnam national costume "ao dai," with a "non la" (conical hat) on my head and I'll walk down the streets of Vietnam. I'll smile to the people and hug the children. Yes, I'll walk on my birth country's soil and feel Her love and warmth.

One day.., one day.., one day.. maybe on some Spring days, when everyone is cheerfully wishing each other well, when "hoa mai" are blooming to welcome the Spring; when the children adorn themselves with new and beautiful outfits; when "red envelopes" are given out to children to wish them health and happiness. Oh, perhaps I'll even get to see a real "bau, cua, ca, cop" or "lac bau cua" game? I think that's what you call it. It's one of those very popular games that the natives often would play during "Tet" (the Vietnamese New Year) that I have yet to play or even to see in real life.

Sure, I've often heard Spring time is really beautiful and joyous in my birth country, where every home is getting ready to celebrate"Tet." Well, one day, I'll celebrate "Tet" with you, Vietnam.

Vietnam, the country I knew little about, mostly only through books and television that I was able to learn about my birth country. One day, I will get to really know you, Vietnam, but not through books and television, I'll actually touch you, drink your water, and breathe in your air. I'll even speak the language of my Mother tongue.
