"I don't know what I would have done if I hadn't had this thing to keep me occupied. Desi died and my show got canceled. If I hadn't had this, if I hadn't this reassurance that I was still wanted, I don't think that I could have gone on." -- Lucille Ball, speaking about the Kennedy Center Honors.

  • I believe she was a humble person at heart. A lovely person. Thanks for sharing. She deserved recognition for making people laugh and care. Laughter helps people. It's a shame her and Desi couldn't have worked it out.

  • listen u bitch. Lucille Ball was the GREATEST comedienne EVER! Now we have all these wanna be's like Miranda Cosgrove and Miley Cyrus. They both cant act by the way. If it werent for lucy, women and TELEVISION would have no place in the world! She was the first lady of comedy. She was a bitch when she had to be because u cant always be nice, and naive like Lucy Ricardo. In showbusiness, u have to manipulate and stab some people in the back and BE A BITCH to get what u want.

  • I'm about to cry at her shocked reaction when there's a standing ovation(: I mean, why WOULDN'T there be a standing ovation. If I was there, I would hooting and hollering. No, actually, I'd be sitting next to her and crying out, 'I love you and you're wonderful!!!!!!!" :)

  • @lucy3142 They did another one a few years ago, 2003's "Lucy". That one was slightly more accurate, but not by much.

  • Lucille Ball is the most fantastic actress I have ever seen. Sure i may be a 14 year old teen girl, but I have never seen anyone as marvelous and smart as her. She made people laugh and I will always watch her show. She loved unconditionally and she was amazing. I love Lucy :)

  • There was only one Lucy and there never will be another........she was the greatest and we miss her very much. Thanks Lucy...you will always be loved!!

  • the music clip from Mame sounds like the broadway recording, not the movie. Thanks so much for posting this! Lucy is the best of the best!

  • @mysteriousdrh i think the really did always love each other

  • amazing lady. never will there be another lucille ball.<3

  • ahhhhhhhhh........cuban pete. i'm not sure it was even possible to watch/hear that and not want to see them together on TV.

  • I just love, LOVE, that she had to stand back up again for that ovation. Oh, Lucy. Orson Welles called you the "greatest actress in the world." He was onto something.

  • There is good and bad in all people, she was a person like any of us, she is a legend and will always remain a leyend because she deserved it and Desi was amazing as an actor too.

What happened in their personal life is very sad but we all live situations that are sad and devastating for us too; they were just people like we all are.

Her legacy will prevail and I wish it was now a days the same simply and pure comedy not the vulgarity that seems to be what people like now a days.
