  • THANK YOU THANK YOU!! I love this song and never thought Rush ever performed it live. I'd like to hear a live version of the Fountain of Lamneth.

  • @flairfan101 i would love that also but they are yet to perform it and probably never will

  • @pinkfloydrule27 Didn't they perform the Fountain of Lamneth on like the first two dates of the Caress of Steel but then dropped it due to the audience's apparent lack of interest/enthusiasm? Even if this is true, I doubt there would be any audio of those 2 shows.

  • @skorziks ive never heard this before where did you read it if it is true thats amazing

  • It couldn't be good quality. I recorded it with a hand held Sony cassette recorder sitting 10 feet in front of the stage. I didn't realize when I released it back in 2000 it was the only bootleg of full version of the song.

  • @powrcord theres another version but from the same concert so well done

  • prog fans... why must we fight? Yes, Rush, KC, Genesis, ELP are all so great in so many different ways... to compare them is ridiculous

  • This is the stuff that I wish they would do live again. Caress of Steel, A Farewell Kings, were very deep albums. Very surreal. Some say over the top, I say in depth with a warm mystical analog sound.

  • @mikens1 FRIGGIN' LMAO!!!

    me too!!!

    Down the tubes tour

I have a buddy who really hates prog/art-rock (fellow musician) and he ONLY likes Caress of Steel,of all of Rush's works.Couldnt believe it was there worst received of all their albums..I cant either

  • sucks that geddy wasted his voice on a tour that no one cared about...

  • This song is so awesome! They need to play something from Caress of Steel for their next tour! The fans have only been waiting 30 years!

  • @myway43 I think i could say that Caress of Steel was one of my favorites, if not my favorite album by rush. I dont know why, but it is a perfect mix of prog, rock, and emotion in one album

  • @DemonLobster Very interested. Ya even parsed that one to a date, nice. Sadly I was only 11 at the time. It would be 3 full years before I saw my first show, The Kinks. I still lament not hearing the fountain.

  • @nyjastul696

You may be interested to hear that the last time they performed any song from Caress of Steel with lyrics was on the 30th of September, 1980. A small piece of me died with that concert bootleg! :[

Apologies for being a year late in responding; but Rush *did* in fact play Lamneth live, on the LAST date of the CoS tour (Jan 10th, 1976) when they were unexpectedly forced to headline a show ahead of Kiss.

Allegedly a soundboard recording of the aforementioned performance lies in the possession of a cousin of Geddy's named Lindy; however, no source I've seen can confirm whether this SBD exists, or ever whether Geddy has a cousin Lindy!

    We can only hope, eh?

  • Not great audio but I LOVE the Photo!

  • Best Band ever....Period. I would have needed Depends if I saw this live in 75.

  • Good stuff here. I'm a new Rush fan only having seen them from the Hold Your Fire tour, and on of course. The 'Down the Tubes" tour is reviled by the band. They don't play anything from CoS live. The only time I've ever seen it entertained was during the medeley for the 30th anniversary tour. It was a bit from Bastille Day. Too bad really. It's the album that turned me on to Rush. Oh well.
