Ram Dass and Michael Harner in Dialogue presented by The Foundation for Shamanic Studies

Ram Dass and Michael Harner discuss the nature of consciousness and the spiritual, psychedelics, and shamanism - with wisdom and humor - in these selected clips from their January 2003 dialogue and discussion in Marin County, California at the Foundation's annual gathering of FSS Council members.

Ram Dass' talks, teachings, books, and exquisitely described anecdotes brought Eastern philosophy and practice to millions of people. His unique combination of devotion and scholarship brought the spiritual heart of India to the West. Beyond that, Ram Dass' personal candor and accessibility continue to ease seekers into heartfelt, sincere spirituality. In February 1997, Ram Dass experienced a stroke. The result was paralysis and expressive aphasia, caused by damage to anterior regions of the brain. This has effectively ended his ability to travel and lecture, but it has in no way atrophied his ability to teach and inspire.
