This is a song I wrote about 8 years or so ago with my old band Pretty Cool Chair, of which Rob Perry (playing lead guitar here) was a part of. I love Rob's voicings in this tune.

Control Freak

24/7 his mind runs
Runs around but not away
I think I heard the water faucet stop
Lots to do and lots to say

If you stop swimming you can't breathe
No time to heal, no time to bleed
You're covered in nerve sweat but completely in control
With no idea of your real needs

You must not know who you are
We wonder how you got this far

His mother's a surgeon
His father folds the clothes
But this you would not know
Information he withholds

You'd be much better off with me
But you have to battle entropy

His woman adores him
Kind of like candy
But she'd never love him
Puppet on a string

Too hard to handle or to bear
But you're still completely unaware

The water's been building
Up behind the wall
The weak points are breaking
