Following successful shwanoma removal in 2011, Karen Swartz suffered orofacial pain and paresthesia. Upon referral by an orofacial pain specialist at the UNC School of Dentistry, she began treatment with Dr. Jongbae Park in the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at UNC who took a holistic approach to healing. After six months of care, including acupuncture and diet change, she says that the pain is greatly improved and that she is stronger mentally, physically and emotionally.
