  • Becky and Darlene are still the two most realistic teenagers ever portrayed on tv.

  • I totally agree. I can identify with Darlene and how she sees the world.

  • Whether it was Darlene's severe depression, dealing with emotions through food, Jackie's abusive/dysfunctional relationships, the demoralizing effects of dead end, low wage jobs, and the many other curve balls life throws at us, no other show in history (before or since) tackled such universal concerns with such nuance, intelligence and realism. This show burst onto the scene in the 80's and 90's like a breath of fresh air, and I will always admire Roseanne for this.

  • What I wouldn't give to have my own parents care so much when I was depressed.

  • @letslaugh2gether4 She didn't agree with certain storylines the producers wanted to do. She wanted to make Nancy a lesbian instead of being with Arnie. She got her wish in season 5 when Nancy comes out.

  • @Popteart argued about what?

  • so...what the hell was wrong with her?

  • A pivitol episode for sure. I love the little touches on this show; it really added to the realism. Like Dan fighting with Darlene and immediately heading to the pantry for food. Stuff like that.

  • I wonder if Rosie's 'SO FIRE ME' shirt had anything to do with how her and Tom argued with the producers.

  • "what a dweeb" -Darlene-

  • Actually, Darlene was right. She and Dan didn't talk about other things, unless it was sports. She didn't always run, he did. I liked Dan and all, but Roseanne and Darlene were both right, he was trying to put this jock label on her. Why does she have to discuss quitting the team with him and it's her decision? And at 2:52-2:55, what the hell does basketball have to do with it? Yeah she's the tomboy, but that's not the answer to everything. She's still a kid, with feelings, understand her some.

  • I was like Darlene as well, I saw the world (still do) for what it was as early as High School, while most people only saw High School as their only only world. I just didn't feel like doing anything either, I didn't like anyone, because they were fake and mean to each other, and I didn't want friends like that.
