  • makes me wanna make the switch to mac

  • Haha, sorry about that :P

  • True. Oh, for the record, look at how old my first post is.

  • Yes, I don't deny that, for most users, UNIX based OSs will be a lot more stable, but, as I said, that has a lot more to do with the programs that people choose to run than the OS itself.

I actually like Debian a lot, and I use it for an OS on my servers and as a dual boot on my laptop, I just don't see why people bash Windows so much. They should be bashing software developers that need to learn to program better. :P

  • It's still pretty much a proven fact that UNIX is in fact more stable than any Windows O/S. Although it was the user's bad choice, it doesn't go like that for a mac user, almost every program you install works well with the O/S.

  • Actually, the NT kernel is very stable; Windows itself isn't to blame for instability, it has more to do with 3rd party programs that either do not perform as intended, due to faulty coding, or, indeed perform as intended, but with malicious or unauthorized intent (Malware and the like.) That has little to do with Windows as an operating system; it just so happens that people make wrong choices installing software.

Install Windows with only a few programs and you'll see it's just as stable.

  • It is 25th anniversary of Macintosh Today!

  • you couldnt have said it any better, i know everyone bitches about how much more expensive macs are, but would you rather have just plain crashy Vista, or crashy vista for games and OSX for about everything else. Macs pwn PCs in everything except for games. Also, macs are SO MUCH more stable than PCs because theyre coded in UNIX unlike PCs and UNIX is a lot more stable than windows coding

  • Outdated and incompatible? Here I shall have to disagree, for Macs can run Windows Vista AND Microsoft Office.

Also, I must quote 'Wall Street Journal' writer Walt Mossburg:

"Nearly all of the major, visible new features in Vista are already available in Apple's operating system, called Mac OS X, which came out in 2001 and received its last major upgrade in 2005. And Apple is about to leap ahead again with a new version of OS X, called Leopard, due this spring."

  • What fairy-tale world do you live in? Doesn't Mac have a global market share of right around 2%?

People are starting to wake up and realize that while Mac mass marketed the personal computer first, what they offer now is overpriced, outdated, and incompatible, literal and metaphorically, in today's world.
