My fingers do this thing... where they randomly turn WHITE when it's cold outside. There is, apparently, a name for it.... Raynaud's Disease. hmmmmph.. :(
if your not careful you can lose that finger or more. if its cold, drink hot tea or coffee or hot coco. warm drinks help to improve circulation in your hands. raynauds is basically a constriction of blood vessles in the hands and warm drinks even poket hand warmers will help.
That looks like Raynaud's. =\ I have it, and my fingers mostly just swell, but for people who have it badly, skin colors can change and you could actually get gangrene from it if the circulation damage causes damage to the skin. It could also be a sign of an underlying condition, like lupus or athritis (although for young people, it's usually not). Best to just get some tests to make sure. =] In the meantime, keep warm!
Ask your doctor about medications for raynauds phenomenon, cause that is what you have :) things that exacerbate it are the cold (as you have experienced already), caffeine, nicotine and anything else that will cause vasoconstriction (like pseudoephedrine or amphetamines). If its really bothersome for you, there are medications that are available to help with the symptoms...can't be cured though. Etiology is unknown...thus why its a phenomenon. Very cool! Thanks for sharing :)
some gloves are really bad because the cold gets trapped inside the gloves .. this happened to me and my dad and we were nearly in teeaars it hurtso baad!!!!!!!!!!!
Ya, this is Raynaud's. You should always wear gloves when it is cold. It may seem like just something freaky, but you can also have major complications if you don't keep your hands warm. The loss of blood flow to the hands (Caused from constriction of the blood vessels) over a prolonged period can result in major complications. Also, this can be a symptom of a much more dangerous disease called Scleroderma. Your doctor should rum a few blood tests just to make sure.
i have it !! just my middle finger turns white , could it be lupus ?!
