The gripper is a specific-friction surface, its designed to hold the moving mass of a part, but slide on collision for accurate placement. Otherwise the pipe would wobble when placed.

What is the brand and the model of this gripper ? I'm looking for one like this one for a M6-i
Thanks

It's a Schunk Powercube PG070 which is controlled via CAN. I don't know if they're commercially available, but you can get the same mechanical functionality with other Schunk grippers.

I'm curious - how much would a machine like this (or similar) cost?
I've never priced them as I have no applications for one at the moment...just wondering.

The robot is a Fanuc LR Mate 200i, you should be able to look up a more exact quote somewhere but I believe it would be around 85k $ for the robot and controller - The one we used was equipped with some network options that allowed us (with a lot of glue software) to control the position of the joints directly.
In fact, there are very few manufacturers that have controllers that allow this direct control of the joints - Seems like they want to keep their products safe ;)
