French version of Les Misérables, original concept album. I don't own anything, all belongs to the creative geniuses of Claude-Michel Schönberg and Alain Boublil.

FANTINE

On noie notre désespérance

  • @MichaelJavert

technically, you are seeing what this user is all about. their love for this music makes it so that the viewers can see what this person is all about. it's not a difficult concept for most people understand. it is obvious that in your case, the concept is rocket science

  • I understand it just fine--took a bit but you just need to work on it!

    Fantastisch... fantastique... fantastic...

  • @rexebuza That's not a matter of preferance. L'air de la misère deals with poverty (not only as a lack of money, but as the whole poverty) that concerns everyone of us, whereas on my own is just a love song. It doesn't mean that On my own is a bad song, it's just less strong. Maybe you don't understand the french lyrics, specially the chorus when she says that the outcasts are considered like bastards born in jail.

  • @thib8500 thats your opinion... i prefer on my own....

  • @nasugbubatangas these songs have more in common though, than "oh what a circus" and "dont cry for me argentina". Whithout understanding the lyrics this could actually be the same song. the emotions conveyed here are also very similar. oh what a circus has a total different rythem than dont cry for me argentina

  • sung by rose laurens original french cast 1980, the same rose laurens was famous across europe in the 80's with the song africa

  • @thib8500 The only same thing about this song and "On My Own" is the Tune. But they are two different songs. Lyrics play an important part in making a song. Consider "FANTINE'S DEATH" and "ON MY OWN". Same tune, different songs. The same is true with Evita's "OH! WHAT A CIRCUS" and "DON'T CRY FOR ME ARGENTINA".

  • To everyone who's wondering: this song was about poverty. And when the lyricists tried to translate that to english, it just didn't sound right. Try singing "poverty" in place of "la misere" and you'll realize how awkward it sounds. So the decision was made to rearrange certain melodies around for different characters.
