The war in Iraq no longer seems to be the main issue of debate in the US presidential race. Instead, the presidential candidates have been clashing over the economy, healthcare and immigration.
All commentators appear united on the question of the media's complicity in falsely portraying the Iraq war as a non-issue. I am puzzled, however, by Mr. Munro's simultaneous acceptance of media misreporting, while essentially acquiescing to this media spin in terms of the political options available to the republican and democratic candidates. Is there not a role for media critics to expose bias rather than to complacently prognosticate over the realist consequences of such slant?
No sensible American President can sign a retreat from Iraq, no matter he/she is Republican or Democrate. Everyone should realize how this road will end: Chaos, Civil war, Iran dominance, Sunni nations intervention, neighbours attack neighbours, and then someone, or everyone, has to clean up the mess. Yes, it is bad that Americans are killing Muslims, but it is better that Muslims kill Muslims?
Most of US were in favor of the war when it started &now its a huge liability for the Repub.Perhaps theres many short-sighted who want to end this war through immediate withdraw, but the Dem party is smart enough to realize this"mandate"wont be applicable in the future&if they dont do the right thing they will be blamed for the subsequent bloodbath in Iraq. That&the fact that more US troops would die from inadequate armor&protection is why they havent cut funding, not b/c of some media conspiracy.

AL JAZEERA PROPAGANDA MARCHES ON
1. Put away bombs and bullets, you cant
win against USA
2.Flood TV loving America with videos showing that only stupid people support the war, or if you against Obama you are racist
or "its all about oil" etc.
3. Quiety support any new fair minded peace loving Jimmy Carter to appear, perhaps a black Jimmy Carter.
4. Wait till the "peace movement" wins and then resume war.
5. This is called the Vietnam II plan.

its amazing how consistently the lies flow from washington; many times it makes more sense to believe the exact opposite of what they say.
