Dancing Cranes

Dancing Cranes, Installation by Kathy Hinde and Maja Ratkje at Arnolfini, Bristol, UK, March 27th.
Delicate origami Cranes are animated by small motors accompanied by a soundtrack by Norwegian composer Maja Ratkje. The speed of their flight, and overlaying of sounds is controlled by data that represents their annual migration cycle. Video images shine onto the paper birds to create a super-imposed shadow animation.
