More than 110,000 people from across the country and abroad flock to Medora every year to take in the magic and see the renowned Medora Musical started in the 1960s after Schafer purchased the land and transformed it into a majestic amphitheatre.

And now, Touchstone Energys® footprint of impact just made its mark across the rugged Badlands of North Dakota.

As Touchstone Energy Cooperatives, Basin Electric, together with Burke-Divide Electric, KEM Electric, McKenzie Electric, McLean Electric, Mor-Gran-Sou Electric, Mountrail-Williams Electric, Oliver-Mercer Electric, Slope Electric, Verendrye Electric, and the North Dakota Association of Rural Electric Cooperatives, are sponsoring the Medora Musicals Burning Hills Singers this summer (2007). The largest sponsorship of this kind, Touchstone Energy is the first primary sponsor of the Burning Hills Singers.

When this opportunity was presented to us, we instantly knew this would be a perfect fit, says Linda Mindt, Basin Electric Charitable Giving Foundation administrator. Touchstone Energys values commitment to community, integrity, accountability and innovation mirror those values exuded by the Medora Musical.

When you look at the Touchstone Energy logo of the extending hands and the rainbow colors, thats the picture we have of Medora, adds Randy Hatzenbuhler Theodore Roosevelt Medora Foundation president. We have that picture in our mind of the Medora Musical, with the Burning Hills Singers inviting all the children up on stage and this year, for instance, the theme is, You Can Be Anything.

The Medora Musical boasts a strong history dating back 40 years. On any given night, more than a thousand people attend the musical, spanning from every state in the country and several other countries. It is a two-hour professionally produced musical variety show performed in the outdoor Burning Hills Amphitheatre located in the heart of the North Dakota Badlands in Medora. The Burning Hills Singers is a cast of highly talented individuals from all over the United States with singing, dancing and clogging expertise many of whom hail from rural electric cooperative-served communities.

This sponsorship is just one of those things that benefits everyone involved, we believe, Hatzenbuhler says. Its good for Medora, and its good for Touchstone Energy Cooperatives. Theres nearly 100 percent identification of the Medora Musical amongst people around this upper Midwest area, and Touchstone Energy is now a prominent part of the musical.
