OK I see my comments below and I had a Senior brain fart moment grouping the Ron Holden song with the Crows version. Must have been drinking.

@ 411 Soulman, I don't recall what I said back then but make no mistake I LOVE BOTH THE CROWS SONG AND CHANTELS COVER (and Gee was the first Rockin Roll song I ever bought back in 1953 or 1954. Ron Holden's song wasn't even the same song, but I still like it also.

@buckbeach You mentioned Ron Holden. His California jam "Love You So" is soooo different than the New York jam from The Crows and Chantels, but we still LIKE it!

While the later artist did very well (Chantels and Ron Holden) this has to be honered for its originality.

An Oldie but Goodie Classic that brings back memories of the memorable days of R&B and Doo Wop music, Oldie but Goodies por vida ......

I have a few of the red wax copies of this record as well. It's interesting that the red wax copies have better fidelity - unfortunately, most of them are very scratchy.

Amen!!!
flip side of the classic "Gee"....your description as a "Haunting doo wop" is right on, Ishredu. Lead singer is DISTRAUGHT!! Nice unheralded oldie that deserves more play by the doo wop crowd....
