Andrew showing how to...
How to tie a Truckers hitch
"TRUCKERS HITCH" ... As taught to Motion Picture Studio Production Technicians ,at Capilano college North Vancouver. And in an I.A.T.S.E safe Rigging course. I have used this knot at times on a daily basis and found 0 slippage. However the knot must be tied tight! I AM using sash chord here. Which is very soft yet strong . It is the 3 twists in the rope which ensures the rope will not bind up on itself.. If you are using 3 strand rope and cannot get enough leverage due to it binding up then all you need to do is go around your second anchor point again and through the loop again provided you have enough rope, then this will give a bit more ability to tension the rope.

  • Thanks friend. This is the best demo for this knot that I've seen.

  • @seewaage Your very welcome I know it will serve you well.

  • DEFTLY.........I LEARNED A NEW WORD TODAY THANK YOU.

Slowed down version request is now on my list of TDD.

  • such a fantastic video! What is the last knot at the end called?

  • @sk8ordie0906 The knot at the end is a simple slip knot or sometimes referred to as a bite. Andrew casually uses it around both ropes in this video ,Most times I just put a bite in the single line .The more tension you have the tighter your bite will need to be to hold the tension. Some truckers will tie a half hitch to finish the job or even 2 half hitches. However upon untying the knot you will find using a bite is much easier to release.
