My proposal on the Visa Waiver Program would apply to new countries entering the program for a probationary period. The idea of fines strikes me as interesting but impractical, it would cost a great deal to set up such as system and it would not address security concerns.
We have to prey on illegals superstitions...spook 'em back to enter legally. More computer cameras manned by concerned citizens. Satellite recognition of known felons with SWAT to intercept! All yardwork done in America by students.
You suggest elsewhere that we should require visa waiver travelers to leave by one of the 11 airports that handle 70 per cent of the current traffic. Seems like a non starter to me. Imagine the Brit staying with friends in upstate NY who wants to go to Canada for the day - for starters.
Why not this? If you don't properly declare your exit, by filling out the I-94 form, then next time you want to come into the country, you have to pay a fine -say $25-100.

The only answer is a combination (1) enforcing the law and (2) creating sufficient legitimate opportunities for folks to come here to work..that is the only combination that will keep America safe, free, and prosperous.
The GOP is going through a huge crisis right now. Should we appeal to the racist xenophobe wing of the republican party and keep immigrants out or the business wing of the party that needs a steady flow of cheap labor.
If I understand correctly, the border problem is to blame for insecurity. Is there no other factors to the general worry of the middle-class? Would you agree to that generalized worry existing?
Watch out heritage, theres pleny of libs around here that love illegals
