When you go to People's Square in Shanghai, maybe Peter and Jing JIng (or someone like them) will "invite" you to a tea house. DO NOT GO! You will be presented with a large bill for the tea house experience. Maybe your new "friends" will work for the tea house or other businesses in the area to be escorts. A "Tea hostess" will do an elaborate presentation. Here is an interesting link: http://www.teascam.com/thestory/. The Shanghai Police have begun to crack down on the practice:http://shanghaiist.com/2007/07/13/police_raid_sca.php. Perhaps the city would not like the publicity or presence of this type of activity before the 2010 Expo. Part 2 shows the presentation.
They are really despicable. I ran into people like this and they look really genuine and its easy to almost believe they may just be friendly, its really unfortunate and it makes foreign people get a bad impression of the whole place!
