NOTE: UPDATED BLOG POST: It is no longer necessary to hack the YouTube embed code to offer the high-quality (HQ) version of YouTube videos on web pages and blogs. YouTube now does it for you by offering the option to watch a video in high quality IN the embedded player itself. An HQ button now pops up inside the embedded video player whenever a high quality video is played. Hovering over the button will allow you to see that clicking it will offer the video in higher quality.

Below is the OLD write-up for this video:
How to embed high-quality and/or high-definition (HD) videos from YouTube into your blogs, websites, or other online venues.
This video tutorial covers video embeds. Most specifically, it deals with how to obtain the high-quality or high-definition playback of YouTube videos when they are embedded on blogs or websites outside of YouTube.
For those who are unaware, the HQ or HD playback option links on YouTube appear beneath the video player screens -- just above the area showing views.
To get the videos to embed in those playback formats, the following code is necessary:
High Quality: &ap=%2526fmt%3D18
High Definition: &ap=%2526fmt%3D22
This code needs to fit into embed code just in front of the end-quotation on both portions of the code which falls between the quotations.
Additionally, this video touches on how to get rid of the YouTube "Search Videos" bar that now (often by default) AND the "related" or "recommended videos" that come up once a video has ended in embedded video content.
A couple other pointers are given here with regard to customizing the embed video players both by size and by the appearance of the players (with or without colored borders around them).

Note: For people with slower or NON high-speed Internet connections, these high quality and HD videos may take longer to load and therefore could play slower or choppier. This is especially true of HD videos. Please be aware of this when embedding these on your blog or website -- it may make the viewing experience more difficult for some visitors.

Parte #1 Hello Julie, how are?I just have a question and the rezone I am asking you this is because I have done my home work and I was unable to finish the tutorial task I just watch it .
How can i change the border/frame color like you did, just to browse you tube website (Only for this purposes If i do)?
squirtmph 2 years ago
Thanks for the question. If I understand you correctly, you are wanting to include the border/frame color just for purposes of browsing YouTube? If that is correct, then it is not something YouTube actually enables you to do. The border option is only for use when embedding a YouTube video player elsewhere, such as on a blog or in a forum.
Let me know if that answered your question.
Thanks,
~JP
