  • have heard something about the average adult male being able to generate about 300 watts when pedalling a bike, for about 5 to ten minutes, and up to 400 – 450 for maybe 15 seconds. Why then is the power limit for electric bikes only 200 watts in Australia? There are of course the usual political reasons… you pay far more taxes and charges if you drive a car or use public transport, and the powers that be are not about to make it easy for you to ride a bike and pay almost no taxes or charges

  • Well, actually not illegal, but classified as a motor bike, and will need to register it.

  • @MavVRX Rather than limiting the power of the motor, the law should allow for more flexibility with power, but impose a speed limit

  • @optimad51 Ah, thanks for responding! 80 kph with 72v at 3000 watts, wow! That's amazing, makes a fool out of my kiddy 40 kph, oh well :-), it is a "bicycle after all" good luck with your ebiking!
