The existing deck paint was in good condition except for places where guests had worn shoes with soles that had grabbed road stones from the street by the main wharf. I needed to gouge out any loose paint, allow the deck Kauri timber to dry, then fill the holes with marine grade epoxy filler. After sanding with 100 grit, refilling the bubbled spots, then re-sanding with 100 grit paper, I was able to medium sand with 180 grit. After than, a coat of Prekote undercoat was applied to the repairs. After drying, another coat of Prekote, then when dry, the next day, a light sand with 180 grit by hand, to the entire deck surface.
After a brush down and a wipe down, I painted two coats of Deckpaint, tinted cream was applied, one day after another.
