From 1926 to 1928, Gordon Stewart Northcott committed at least 20 murders on a chicken ranch outside of Los Angeles. His nephew, Sanford Clark, was held captive there from the age of 13 to 15, and was the sole surviving victim. Here, acclaimed crime writer Anthony Flacco tells the real story behind the case that riveted the nation. • This is no trailer. This is a mini-documentary, complete with a host every bit as engaging as the story. The production value is Ken Burns -- the storyteller is vintage Anthony Flacco.

  • After seeing this I took a look at Anthony Flacco's website. There he reads an excerpt from Road Out of Hell. Spellbinding. Took advantage of the sale price by ordering an advance copy.

  • Can you tell me if there's (or if there will be) a french translation of this book?

What are you talking about? There is a movie about it?

  • I just finished reading this book. The details of these crimes are horrifying, revolting and nauseating, which is probably why there is no movie. Adding to the horror is the fact that Gordon Wescott was 21 years old. The book is well written so you will feel the horror of these crimes. It is nothing short of a miracle and a testament to the Sanford Brown that he became the man that he did. Sanford Brown and his family owe apologies to no one. They have paid long enough for a debt they dont owe.

  • Good book--some producer ought to pick it up as a movie script in its own right. It is interesting that, althought Flacco was highly tactful in communicating this, Sanford married a rather abrasive, controlling woman. I wonder to what extent his early experiences with his mother, and especially his uncle, influenced his choice of companionship. It chills me to think that he may have felt compelled in this way to keep a vestige of the "Stewart factor" around him throughout his life.

  • I just finished watching the Changeling and i am like OMG WTF!!!

did they ever find walter collins? :((
