Released February 14, 1927. Directed by Alfred Hitchcock.

"A landlady suspects her new lodger is the madman killing women in London."

*Considered by Hitchcock himself to be his first true film, "The Lodger" is the earliest of his films that survives today in it's entirety. It was based off the book of the same name by Marie Belloc Lowndes. It was the first book to offer a solution to the Jack The Ripper killings. The book is supposedly based on an anecdote told to the painter Walter Sickert by the landlady when renting a room; she said that the previous tenant had been Jack the Ripper.*

Featuring:

Marie Ault ... The Landlady
Arthur Chesney ... Her Husband
June ... Daisy - Their Daughter
Malcolm Keen ... Joe - a Police Detective
Ivor Novello ... The Lodger
Reginald Gardiner ... Dancer at Ball (uncredited)

Alma Reville ... Women Listening to Wireless (uncredited)
