Why is the Tach on the side? I thought by now, all sports cars (including hot hatches) have tachs in the center..

Why Europe what small engines you have. The better to get run over by a speeding truck dear...
No but really, the smallest available engine in the US is the 2.5L. Im about to buy an Impreza, do they all do this on startup?

Yes, they do it all, the whole Impreza MY08 Series.

im choosing between a 1.5 and 2.0 if theres not much difference in their performance i'll go for 1.5 what do you think? is it worth paying extra

Mhh, I think you should drive both one time.
I am driving the 1.5 with about 8.6 liters fuel (we call it "Super", 95 Octane), the 2.0 engine will burn a few liters more.
Somitimes I wish the car would have a bit more power...
But just drive both, then you are able to see what's better for you. 150 oder 107 PS, it's not just the price ;-)
Go to your Subaru dealer and fetch some information material, then drive both cars and THEN decide.
