I have just spent 5 weeks travelling to the centre of Australia. (there is a flag and plaque marking the geographic centre point).
I have hours of video and many photos to sort out but I thought I would through something together to give people a taste of what my trip was like.
I have highlighted a cross section of some of the birds and animals we came across on our travels.
The majority of the travel was through remote and sparse desert country and we saw very few other vehicles or people.
We had to take sufficient water, food and fuel with us as there were no supermarkets to shop at. (did I mention is was remote?)
I think it is amazing part of the world and I can't describe in words how it feels to stand in areas were there view is 360 degrees of flat gibber rocks (once the sea bed, millions of years ago) to the horizon and the wonderful clear sky full of stars at night.
The last few days were spent on the east coast and therefore the scenery became markedly greener.
The last bit of the video is Mr & Mrs Yowie washing off some dust in a natural spring on the edge of the lake Eyre (usually a dry salt lake but occasionally fills)

I will be doing some editing and I hope to bore you with more videos of my trip shortly.

Bugger ... I just realised I put "holly" instead of "holy"
I also stuffed up he aspect ratio from widescreen I think.

  • Hey, thanks for your comment maytawee222. I put together the videos for my own benefits to record my travels but it's always nice to know others don't mind having a look also :D

  • Looks like you really make the most of your free time! Look forward to seeing more.

  • Hi Michael. Had a blast and I'm already planing the next few trips.

We also have a loose plan to take the whole year of 2010 off to travel around Australia.

  • Nice video! I hope you had fun!

  • Had heaps of fun thanks April although I don't know if most people would enjoy going places so remote.

I am heading off in a couple of weeks time for another adventure, driving down to Melbourne for the Australian YouTube gathering. (around 3500 km trip)

  • Did you happen to see a Leperd Gecko? (sorry for the misspelling) I have one as a pet. :)

  • That sounds like great fun. I wouldn't mind watching some videos of that :)

  • We definitely had trouble with bulldust entering the vehicle through the rear door seals and there are always problems with bulldust coming out of the car from the vicinity of the driver's seat.

Thanks for not making any sharp remarks about the end to the video MrE63 :D

  • I enjoyed the video Mr Yowie, did Mrs Yowie work out which bones were broken on the anorexic camel. I also noticed a lot of bull dust inside and out side the 4WD.
