A Look In The Dark

I first knew Alan Arkin as the grandfather in Little Miss Sunshine so when I went back and watched Wait Until Dark I was shocked. He was so menacing and seedy in this film that I could hardly believe this was the same actor that later played a teddy bear of a character. Talk about versatility!
And Audrey Hepburn, as always, is just spectacular. It was interesting to see her in a thriller, because it seemed like such an unconventional choice for her, and it more than paid off.

Seriously! A great tribute to his versatility...from a slick, snakelike, sadistic druggie in a terror/thriller to chief of CONTROL in a slapstick of sorts...absolutely brilliant! And of course, Audrey's acting versatility goes without saying...

@daybyday007 HA. Could have been written by me. Big Day fan, but this movie made me a huge A.H. fan. Great movie.

@rvisual I agree. Few people seem to understand that. Also, that movies are fiction and entertainment.

Great movie! Alan Arkin was brilliant. And Aubrey, fantastic as usual

That should be' Walter'

Alan Arkin was not in 'the taking of Pelham 123' the original picture. Robert Shaw,Martin Balsam, Earl Hindman, Hector Elizondo. with Water Matthua as police chief?.

This was my favorite movie as a kid.Still maybe be. I loved watching this, makes me want to buy the dvd.
And you rarely got to see it before vhs was available., but when you did it was special. Arkin is just it the coolest psychopathic hipster killer druggy ever on film.
In 1966 he looks like he could have been in Velvet Underground and hanging with Andy Warhol.
Crenna and Weston were excellent. Hepburn the beauty among the beasts.
Forgot Efrem Zimbalist Jr. played the husband. Cool to see him.

I just watched "Simon"..and I have to admit that Arkin is one of the most versatile actors I've ever seen. He adds dimension to every role, even the small roles like Gattica.

Allan Arkin is the MAN! He's also a 'bad guy' in another film, "The Taking of Pelham 123".
Arkin's performance is the best performance not nominated for an Oscar.

This movie scared me so much but it is an incredible film and im so glad Audrey was nominated for an oscar for it! Im happy I found out about this film early on being 14 and I think its my favorite thriller. Im not used to these very scary films being a huge doris day fan so it was a change.
