Flag Point Lookout Tower at Mt Hood Oregon. It is still in service. The small bench in the video is for lightning storms. It has glass insulators on the legs. You are to stand on the stool until the storm passes. The tower is protected from lightning strikes but not from ground currents. You will also notice #6 gauge wires going from the roof to the ground for protection from lightning. Mt Hood in the background is 11,234 feet. Located east of Mt. Hood with a great view of Oregon's highest peak, Flag Point Lookout is both an active fire detection station and a very popular winter lookout rental site. The first structure was a 6'x6' cab on a 40' pole tower in 1924. It was replaced in 1932 with an L-4 on a 30' pole tower. The present R-6 flattop on 41' timber tower was constructed in 1973.
Spent 3 nights there a couple years ago. AWSOME!!

Nicely done! Never been to the lookout tower, but have been to Mt Hood area many times. It is a spiritual power center in my opinion. Indeed the wilderness! Your choice of music fit perfectly. That rendition of "Over the Rainbow" is a real tear jerker, especially set to such beautiful landscape of the Pacific Northwest.
