Guitar:

Ibanez RG7620 guitar with a DiMarzio Evo 7 in the bridge, DiMarzio Blaze in the neck

Rack:

PreSonus Blue Tube preamp
Rocktron Chameleon preamp
TC Electronic G-Force
Mesa 2:90 Simul-Class power amp

The cab is the Recto Standard from a few years back when they made the straight cab with the slanted speakers. Great cab, tons of bass.

The idea behind the rig is that the Chameleon is a great, tight-sounding preamp, and the Mesa is a powerhouse tube amp. The tube voicings "deep" and "modern" are engaged on the 2:90, the amp really crushes when you have those modes turned on. I use the Blue Tube mic pre to "push" the chameleon a little and give more of a tube sound to the preamp. The Chameleon I use for tone, I don't really use the effects on it. The G-Force adds the effects.

This is pretty much my holy grail of rigs at the moment, so I figured I'd post some clips. Please excuse the sloppy playing, this was all done kinda spur of the moment.

For more info about me or my music, check out any of my other videos here or go to http://www.myspace.com/theasylum

The riff in this clip is from The Asylum's song "This War Ends".

Thanks and enjoy the vids!

  • thanks man, that's where I'm putting mine in. I'm kinda new with pick ups. How should the rods be adjusted for the strings? 1/16?

  • I usually keep them flush with the pickup or a very little bit, maybe 1 turn, higher than the pickup.

  • I got a dumb question. If you were to put the evo in a les paul, it would be where?

  • The evo sounds great as a bridge or neck pickup, but it's best as a bridge pickup.

  • @GJRM18 Basically a power amp pushes the sound of a preamp. Any amp (head or combo) has both in it. The preamp has all the main tones and EQ, and the power amp pushes the sound. Both are needed, they work together and BOTH contribute to your tone.

  • Ok im sorry Im a noob when it comes to preamps so please answer these questions what do preamps do,and what what are they for cause I see a lot of bands with them and I never figured out what they do

  • Thats one sweet sound :O

    Lovin the pinch harmonics!!!!

Squelies are to guitar, what cowbells are to drums, you just cant enough of them haha:)

    =) =) =)

  • I put a 158 in the neck of my les paul and a d sonic in the bridge.
