The cool thing about this version is on the Wii's Virtual Console

@itobandito I'm not nit-picking.
Just tryna help out.

@THENAMEISQUICKMAN Yeah yeah, it's two 8 bit processors advertised as 16bit. Still generally thought as a 16 bit system. Think of better things to say/nitpick about before you comment.

PC Engine is actually 8-BIT. Do some research before you review.

emulation is not authentic?..... sorry but that is the most authentic. the ps2 collection was out by the time of this review right? 2007?

@RetrowareTV OH sweet! It didn't occur to me that they were promo tapes. Could be because the promo tapes I used to get were from Nintendo, and they were usually goofy.
-
@RetrowareTV The SNES version. HANDS DOWN there I said it.

good review. I am just surprised how good the game looks seeing as the PC engine came out in 1987 compared to 1991 just for the people here who do not know this. Sound also is good for its age, and how small the game chip was compared to carts. The system really is unappreciated for what it was able to do coming out only 2 years after the NES came out, so a 7 year old system by the time the game came out was able to be close to what a 2 year old system was cable of doing. PC engine is awesome.
I keep forgetting to ask where you got that footage of those kids playing Street Fighter II. Was that part of a Press Kit, like the ones you can view and download from Archive.org?

@GrilledMonkeyFat It's from an old VHS Promo of the Street Figter 2 Turbo game. There are two versions with the same host but slightly different content. 1 for the SNES SF2 Turbo, and one for the Genesis SF2 CE games. Both can be found fairly easily on Ebay. That's where I got my 2 copies.

How can you say hands down? The SNES version is completely unplayable in the eyes of any competitive or advanced player. It's slow down completely ruins the game. SF2 is about split second timing and making your opponent guess whats going on as you mix stuff up. This doesn't work when the game slows down and reveals your strategy. The SNES version may be better for people who don't know how to play, and enjoy looking at more pretty colors though.

@JBOPatrick At the time of it's release generally the reviews for the SNES version were more favorable then other ports when comparing them. Obviously the arcade version is the best but as for ports I still think the SNES is the best ver of the standard SF2 CE game even (techincally in turbo version of the game).

@RetrowareTV Slow down though is a bummer but other versions have that a bit too. This also was an early episode and since we don't use such definitive words like "hands down" hehe, there is always some one who disagrees even if the general census goes your way too.
