On September 6, 2007, Adam Kokesh (IVAW) and Tina Richards (Grassroots America) were arrested in Washington, D.C. for defying a federal government ban on posting promotional material for the September 15th Antiwar Rally, to be held in this city. The rally is sponsored by the ANSWER coalition. The arrests took place at the corner of H. St. and Jackson Place NW, near Lafayette Park, just north of the White House. Mr. Kokesh is the co-chair elect of the Iraq Veterans Against the War. Marine Mom Richards is the CEO of Grassroots America. The activists placed promotional posters on a traffic box, which supposedly falls under the jurisdiction of the U.S. Department of Interior and the National Parks Service. Recently, the District of Columbia government imposed draconian fines on the ANSWER coalition for placing political literature around town. As a result, the ANSWER coalition has filed a lawsuit in Federal Court challenging the Constitutionality of the local government's action. Also arrested at the scene by the Park Police was Ian Thompson. He is with the ANSWER coalition's LA division. Mr. Thompson is also an attorney.

It was an organized, peaceful press confrence that didn't require a permit. Adam simply turned around and pasted some posters onto an electric box.

The authorities took care of the rest. To quote Adam himself; "horses for crowd control, are not for crowds, they're for control"

This is a classic non-violent civil rights protest that worked for the black community in the 60s and 70s. Rosa Parks refused to loose her seat to a white man on a bus, was she a "crybaby"?

  • @elfkind1

My argument has been and always will be that if you'd like to protest something, organize peacefully, get a permit, and don't make a spectacle out of it. If you have a good message you don't need to agitate the police so that they arrest you and then hope you getting arrested will bring attention to your cause. That's the easy way out. If these people really wanted to make a change they'd work hard and organize meetings rather than organize screaming in public and annoying people.

  • @Fitzlight62

If only that statement was true. The level of British tyranny and modern police trying to keep the public safe are two completely different things and are nowhere near each other on the wavelength of rights being violated. Compare the Bill of Rights to the rights citizens had under British reign and then come back and tell me it's the same thing. Until then, learn more and type less. If you wish to have freedom don't support people with links to socialists and communists.

  • @metaltildeath

*sigh* You obviously didn't get the sarcasm. OF COURSE I'm not going to stand on the sidewalk and block people until the police arrive! A: I have morals B: The cops will never show.

You called me a liberal and a sheep? ROFLMAO. You don't know me, and you probobly couldn't even begin to understand my political perspectives. Who's crying now? Where's YOUR real arguement? I'm waiting for an educated retort, and I'm being let down every time.

  • @elfkind1

So you're basic argument is you want to be rude and do whatever you want while interrupting others because you can. Not that you have to, but it'll make you feel special because you can. You must have a really shallow life and get no attention if provoking the police in public for no reason seems cool to you. Keep crying buddy, with all the tears in your eyes you'll never realize what a liberal sheep you are.

  • @metaltildeath

Screaming people blocking the sidewalk, infringing the rights of others to use it? That's the extent of your argument? Do you have electricity? Putting a sticker on a power box will cause NOTHING. People driving down the road? LOL! That's halarious. People pass me riding my mountain bike on the road, am I infringing upon their rights? What a joke, your whole arguement is pathetic.

now I'm going to go stand on the sidewalk and wait for the cops to arrest me, lol!

  • @keithpetro

Which Amendment says you have the right to poster something up wherever you please? Right to postering? It must be nice to make things up so you can do whatever you want.

  • @elfkind1

Yeah, because there's clearly no difference between someone looking for their dog and someone screaming while blocking sidewalks and putting stuff on what looks like electrical equipment right? How about clogging sidewalks and infringing upon the rights of everyone else not at the protest? Those people don't have rights? Not to mention the people driving on the road near them. Also, don't know where jealousy comes in at all. You sound like a ranting child. Cry more, type less.

  • @metaltildeath

how many millions of lost dog/house for rent/yard sale/etc signs are posted in public w/o incident? There's a "lost dog" flyer on a dozen light posts in my neighborhood never taken down. The phone number is clearly written, but have the police done anything? NO!

This video CLEARLY illustrates the abuse of power by the police sworn to PROTECT US! Those "people" have balls, you don't. So your bitter jealousy holds no validity. Here endeth the lesson, pussy.
