Andy Williams began his singing career in the late 1930's singing with his brothers, and they billed themselves as The Williams Brothers. Among their notable songs was accompanying Bing Crosby on his hit "Swinging On A Star". When Andy went solo he signed with Cadence Records and had several hits in the 1950's including "Canadian Sunset", "Are You Sincere", and others. He established a free and easy style similar to that of Perry Como's, and landed his own tv variety show beginning in 1962. He also became a very savvy businessman ultimately buying the entire Cadence catalog of music in 1964 which included all the original recordings by such artists as the Everly Brothers as well as his own material. Andy is probably best known today for the songs he recorded with Columbia Records who he signed with after his departure from Cadence. Among these songs was "Can't Get Used To Losing You" composed by the songwriting team of Doc Pomus and Mort Shuman, famed for the many songs they wrote for The Drifters including "Save The Last Dance For Me" and "This Magic Moment". "Can't Get Used To Losing You" peaked at #2 in the nation during March of 1963.

  • does anybody know what year this came out?

  • @jrsjrs9 The answer is in my notes attached to each recording...1963.

  • @Nocaro a little snippy, ehh? geesh...just be glad people are asking and are interested. Like Glen Campbell too? He did a great song called "Try A Little Kindness"....give it a spin..and listen.

  • @AussiesRokTheWest LOL, not "snippy" at all. Did it ever occur to you that many people have never noticed these "notes" attached to my posts? Lots of great info in them and I was just making sure they were aware of it.

  • @smfbiz We had one of the huge record players that looked more like a buffet, it was so big, and the albums were in there, early 60s, I was about 5, and I played his vinyl every day just for this song!!! Being an Italian, we also had a lot of Perry Como, Dean Martin and Old Blue Eyes. I just liked him the best!!!!!
