Sammy had a good life, living until he was 15 regardless of the Vet predicting he would not live two weeks. We found him when he was about six weeks old, discarded and malnutritioned so badly he could not walk, however, with a lot of care and love he grew quickly to a large but very healthy 72 lbs running, jumping and chasing everything. He was loyal, smart, unwearied, gentle and forgiving. As he aged he had some hip joint issues and eventually had a massive stroke as he died quietly in my arms. Sammy is peacefully resting underneath a black walnut tree where he played as a pup. We miss him terribly.

  • Aww, this is a lovely tribute for your dear pal. It is hard to lose a beloved pet but their unconditional love shows us how to grow ourselves, I believe. I'm glad to read that making this was a comfort to you. I dread the day.........

  • @retrosilk same :/

  • I had a Border Collie named Sammy too. We had to get rid of him at 8 months old because he never got used to city life. And soon got too protective of us. He started growling and showing his teeth at other people after being kicked in the jaw from some lady.

  • I lost my border collie of 15 years "Touva" ,what, 9 years ago.She was the best. This July we got two pups from a rescue! I don't remember the distruction! They(Abby and Colleen) are not the same but are just as wonderful. I hope you have brought another into your life.

    Thanks

    Michael
