I ran out of text. It is about something bigger than one person. It is about rectifying the sitar to its right place. People like Shahid Parvez and many others are dog exactly that. I believe that Niladri is doing a dis-service to all sitarists and 1st time listeners. This is my opinion. I have nothing against him. This video of Ajay is REAL sitar. Beautiful. And look its a studio as well,

I have been searching for this instrument for two years now, got the contact of rikhiram's shop,but whats the cost of this sitar? can anyone say that.
and I must admit that this yaman recital is as good as the ovation sitar is...

it was Rs. 25000 two or so years ago. But that was probably because of my english accent and a camera around my neck. I suppose if I had negotiated in hindi, I could very easily have bargained it down to 16-17k.
It's great for the travelling sitarist, and for jamming with Jazz,Blues etc, but i won't recommend it to any sitar beginner.
