See more info below ("show more") - 2011 SCCA Runoffs. Class: SCCA Enterprises Spec Racer Ford (SRF)
Driver: Denny Stripling
Qualified 23rd, ran as high as 9th, finished 11th. Earned the Sunoco Hard Charger award. Rear-facing camera in upper left hand corner.

Welcome to my Runoffs experience. I didn't qualify where I wanted due to missing half of the week, having mechanical issues during my two qualifying sessions, and subsequently over-driving my ill-handling car trying to make up for lost time. Nevertheless, making up 14 spots during the race was certainly exciting and enjoyable. Before the race I made a fuel pressure adjustment that turned out to be ill-advised as I felt like I had less straightaway speed than I had during qualifying the day before. I made significant changes to try and loosen the car up and it worked... too much in fact in the carousel which killed me on the longest straightaway.

Overall a very fun weekend and some pretty entertaining video as a result. My brake pedal started to soften about a third of the way into the race so I had to push my braking zones way back (like an entire marker in some spots).

Enjoy!

  • @zo Thanks! Regarding the rollbar mounted camera... a) you're right, there is that danger, b) the rear facing camera was on the rollbar in a roll over believe it or not, cost me 10$ to have it rewired - same camera still running!, c) if I end up rolling over (very unlikely fortunately), I've got much bigger problems than a $200 camera. :) Glad you like the thought bubbles. That was an afterthought. I'll stick with it as I post new vids as it seems to be popular.

  • No, they are 1.9L Fords from the early 90's Escort GT that were sent to Roush for a little touch up and full engine management.

  • Update: I found a lock-down stiff (broken, locked on full stiff rebound) right rear shock after this weekend. It may well have been part (or most) of the handling problem.

  • Sweet opposite lock at 5:20. Good catch and awesome job sticking with it.

  • What makes this this a stand-out video, from others of its' genre, is your use of the "Thought Balloons." They REALLY provide an insight ...as I normally CAN'T read a persons mind. Although my wife appears able to, unfortunately, be able to decipher mine , all to often!

  • Perfect! But, I say!...the camera IS mounted on the roll-bar, what? Bad news, for it, when you go rubber-side-up.

  • Don't they use Ford Zetec motors in these cars?

  • awesome video; really enjoyed watching

  • Fantastic video and great driving!
