Every year, chimney swifts, which are small birds migrating south to Peru come to this area for a couple of weeks and roost at night in large chimneys. They used to nest in hollowed out trees, but with deforestation, they resorted to chimneys. After flying all day eating insects, they gather at dusk, circling around the chimney, making a twittering noise. Suddenly they start diving into the chimney one by one until they are all inside, where they sleep till morning.
