UPDATE 10/7/11: I've posted a fairly comprehensive overview of what can be done witht he NC and how to do it on my blog: http://taosaur.blogspot.com/2011/09/understanding-your-options-for-modding.html

This video is just intended to dispel some misinformation. Yes, there are versions of Honeycomb that work on the NC, but they are demo versions with missing features.

Honeycomb is not and will not soon be a fully functional OS for this tablet. It has little to do with hardware--I discuss it in the video--but barring a massive leak from Google, Cyanogen Mod 7 remains your best bet for a full Android OS on this device, especially if you want features like bluetooth or USB hosting.

For a written breakdown of Honeycomb vs. CM7 on the NC: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1113041

  • I'm so confused! I don't speak computer! I just want to get angry birds for free on my NC! What should I do?

  • @SopranoVictoria Visit the link in the description. If you can't follow the directions, you could always buy a pre-made, bootable SD card on Amazon, but that would cost a lot more than paying B&N for Angry Birds.

  • the nook color already does run a veesion android, or atleast i think it doe,im typing this on a nook color right now

  • @dutybs3ckz Stay in school.

  • By the time you posted this video, Nook color had Honeycomb running on it with all of the features (including the android market, and Bluetooth). Being completely functional, and being able to be flashed to the internal memory to work as a normal rom. Honeycomb for the nook was fully functional in February, long before this video was posted. Just to inform you that it does work on the nook color.

  • @DeHavenac Someone clearly didn't watch the video or read the info or linked forum thread. The Honeycomb builds for the NC are hacked together from the app developers' package, not built from source. As such, they have some built-in limitations, which will never be overcome because no one is working on those builds. If it's more important to you to have an OS called "Honeycomb" than to actually have the most advanced and complete OS for your device (CM7), by all means run one of the HC demos.

  • @SmokeyBluntRoach oh, my bad...... 40 dollars (35.99, prob. a tax more than likely) for an 8 GB micro sd card setup with cm7, OR, 30-40 dollar 32 GB micro sdhc card with a usb card reader. just say no to the n2a "chip." you'll benefit from doing it yourself in the long run.

  • @MoreTails No it doesn't it lacks proper hardware acceleration and the UI is laggy as shit. It might work but it's not a daily driver.

  • @TheTaosaur dont see y anyone would waste their time watching a shitty video, honeycomb works find on nook, nuff said

  • If you want to root your nc safely and simply google auto rooter

  • @1997shadowbc if you install the zip to the nook's internal memory.... yes. in fact, a "bootable" clockworkmod image written to the sd card, install the google apps and HC or cm7 to internal memory, reboot, take out the sd.... android tablet. now i use a 32 GB micro sd (class 4) works well.

  • @verbalkungfu i used win32 diskimager, worked great on my windows 7 64 bit OS.

  • CM7 is still the way to go, but work on CM9 (Ice Cream Sandwich) is underway.
