Learning To Ride Elephants In Lampang Thailand

At the famous elephant school in Lampang, Thailand. A 4 year old elephant ridden by a 12 year old girl. This was her first day learning to ride elephants! The school provides a three-day course for anyone interested in having the experience. There is a resort right on the grounds and we saw several families where everyone was taking the course (mom, dad & children as young as 7 years old).

The first morning is spent learning how to mount and dismount. That very afternoon, the students participate in their first elephant show as this young lady is doing. An experienced mahood is of course always there. By the third day, the students are guiding the elephants themselves - although always under the immediate supervision of an instructor.
