beBELMONT: Shaka Mitchell, educator, activist, leader

Shaka Mitchell, JD, Belmont Alumnoi has proven himself as an entrepreneur, teacher and Christian leader. Mitchell has led the Outreach Department at the Institute for Justice, marched with various causes on the steps on the Capitol, received the "Star Award" from D.C. Parents for School Choice for his support of better education options in the nation's capitol, and currently chairs the Nashville Young Life chapter.

Mitchell is also a co-founder and President of MoreMarrowDonors.org, a national non-profit committed to providing scholarships, housing allowances, and other compensation to bone marrow donors who are matches for patients with various blood diseases. MoreMarrowDonors.org hopes to drastically reduce the number of Americans that die each year by reducing the costs of being a life-saving donor.
